Local SEO in Sydney,
won suburb by suburb

Sydney is not one local market. It is dozens of them, and the three results above the map redraw themselves every few kilometres. We work the suburb your customers actually type.

Clusters we work in

CBD, Barangaroo and Pyrmont

Weekday trade and professional services, with the tightest pack radius in the city.

Surry Hills, Darlinghurst and Redfern

Hospitality and clinics inside a two kilometre square, so photos and reviews do the separating.

Bondi, Bronte and Coogee

High volume, high review counts, customers who compare three profiles before they walk anywhere.

Newtown, Marrickville and the Inner West

King Street and Marrickville Road behave like two separate markets.

North Sydney, Crows Nest and Chatswood

Dentists, specialists and allied health, with heavy multilingual search around Chatswood.

Parramatta and Greater Western Sydney

Sydney's second CBD: a wider pack radius and fewer well-kept profiles to beat.

Manly and the Northern Beaches

One road in and out, so opening hours and proximity decide more than they should.

The market

How Sydney actually searches

Almost nobody types the word Sydney. They type Bondi Junction, Surry Hills, Chatswood or Parramatta, or they type near me and let the phone answer it. Greater Sydney runs more than 50 kilometres from the harbour out to Penrith, and the results change from one main road to the next.

That geography decides who you are actually competing with. A physio in Crows Nest is up against the Lower North Shore, not the Inner West. A restaurant in Newtown is invisible to somebody standing in Bondi, three suburbs and one harbour away, because proximity carries so much weight in the dense inner suburbs. Ranking here means choosing the clusters you can serve and winning those first.

Map Pack

What the Sydney Map Pack rewards

Three businesses show above the map, and in the inner suburbs the third is usually within a kilometre of whoever is searching. Proximity is the part nobody can buy. The rest is movable: the primary category above all, service areas, hours that match reality, photos taken at the address, and reviews that keep arriving instead of appearing in one burst.

We track it as a geo-grid rather than a single rank check. A cafe in Alexandria can sit first at its own door and be gone four blocks north, and one number for Sydney hides that completely. The grid shows where the drop happens, and the shape of the drop usually tells you whether the fix is the profile, the website or a second location.

Primary category

The single field that most often explains a Sydney business sitting below a worse competitor.

Review velocity

Inner Sydney competitors sit on hundreds of reviews, so the rate they arrive at matters more than the total.

A page for the suburb

Real content about the area you serve, with the same name, address and phone as the profile.

Platforms

Where Sydney looks you up

Google decides most of it. These are the other places a Sydney customer checks before they call you.

Apple Maps and Apple Business Connect

An unclaimed Apple listing quietly costs calls in a city with this much iPhone share.

Uber Eats, DoorDash and Menulog

Hospitality gets found here first and discounted here first. The direct result has to be as easy to use.

hipages, Airtasker and Oneflare

Where Sydney homeowners go for trades, and where a strong organic ranking makes the lead fee unnecessary.

HotDoc and HealthEngine

Clinic bookings start here, so the profile, the booking link and the real availability have to agree.

ProductReview.com.au

Ranks for brand searches and gets read on the way to a decision.

Broadsheet, Time Out and Concrete Playground

Editorial mentions that AI assistants quote back when somebody asks for a recommendation in Sydney.

Industries

Who we do this for in Sydney

Three of the four we work with most in Australia. Each industry page covers the platforms, the regulators and the searches that apply here.

Hospitality groups

A group with venues in Surry Hills, Barangaroo and Manly is three local businesses sharing a brand. Each one needs its own profile, its own page, its own photos and its own review flow, governed centrally so the voice holds across all of them. Most groups we look at have one strong listing and two that nobody has opened in a year.

Clinics and allied health

Chatswood, Bondi Junction and Parramatta each hold a dozen clinics within walking distance of the station. Winning there is category discipline, appointment hours that are true, and reviews collected from every patient rather than the pleased ones. AHPRA prohibits testimonials about clinical care in advertising, which changes what we ask for and where it is allowed to appear.

Trades across Greater Sydney

A trade covering the Inner West and the Hills is one business with two very different sets of results. Service area setup, pages that name the suburbs you actually drive to, and reviews that mention those suburbs are what move it. NSW licence numbers belong on the site and on the profile, matching the register.

FAQ

What Sydney businesses ask first

Not from one address, and anyone promising it is selling you a ranking for a term nobody searches. A single location ranks strongly in its own cluster and thins out from there. We pick the suburbs you can genuinely serve, build the profile and the pages to match, and use the geo-grid to show you the real coverage rather than a flattering number.
